T Bar M Camp and the “Wow! Design Factor”
Great design will not sell an inferior product, but it will enable a great product to achieve its maximum potential. —Thomas Watson Jr
Wow! My son Caleb recently spent his first week at Camp TBarM outside of New Braunfels, Texas. I was so amazed at how well this organization “has its act together” design-wise that I thought it would be worth examining what created this thing I’ll call the “Wow! Design Factor.”
Perhaps an experiment is in order. Bear with me for a quick mental exercise:
Imagine a company or an organization that really has it’s “public face” together. A great logo. A whole “look and feel” that is colorful and friendly. A company that puts that visual identity forward in all of its communication materials. The company you are thinking of probably also has a web site that transmits that same great look and feel. On top of all of that, the consistent “public face” you are envisioning probably does a good job of matching the personality of the company itself.
Have a company in mind? Any companies out there that just make you go “Wow!” when you see them?
Now- here is the question: By any chance, were you thinking of your own company? If you were, then you have gone through the challenging and rewarding discovery of what makes you tick and why people buy from you. Then, you have worked with a professional to put a graphic face on that “soul” of your company. You have painstakingly worked your visual image into all of your marketing material, and you are mighty, mighty proud of this accomplishment. It didn’t happen overnight, but the process yielded the much desired results of customer recognition, relationships, and sales! Indeed, you transmit a “Wow! Design Factor.”
If your answer to the “Wow!” question lacks a little enthusiasm, then I know a heck of a graphic designer and online marketing expert that can walk through this process!
Please let me know when we can start.
